Topic:
Airport areas being, in their great majority, mono-industry economies, have deeply suffered from the Covid crisis. With the air travel industry bouncing back, recovery is now largely on the way.
But the Covid crisis also sowed new opportunities such as the importance of strategic industries (for example, health industry and pharmaceuticals) which supply chains largely depends on cargo traffic and air connectivity. Is there for airport areas an opportunity to attract manufacturing plants and R&D units in these strategic sectors?
The energy crisis and the objective of decarbonization induce the search by airports/air transport industry of new green/renewable energies such as hydrogen, green electricity (solar panels, biomass…). Is it an opportunity for airport areas to attract production plants and storage units?
At the end of the day, will airport areas economies be more or less diversified in a few years? Discuss the impact of technological changes such as digitalisation, automation and artificial intelligence on the development and construction of airports and airport areas, as well as the changes in the development path of airport areas under the background of technological changes, etc. Discuss how to attract, cultivate and retain technological and innovative talents in order to build a sustainable innovation ecosystem for airports and airport areas, and look forward to the impacts and trends of technological and scientific innovations on the planning, construction, operation and management of airports and airport areas in the future. The impact and trend of science and technology innovation on the future planning, construction, operation and management of airports and airport areas. Advanced Air Mobility will become in the next decade a new means of transportation. It will help connecting places (even remote places) in a more sustainable way (electric powered, almost silent…) and be a contribution to increased connectivity and decarbonization.
What will be the first tangible developments in Europe, Americas and Asia?
How could this new industry help airport areas to boost their economic development? What kind of positive economic externalities could it bring to airport areas (for example attracting constructors’ plants, cooperation with local companies/SMEs, joint innovation with local start-ups…)?
How could Advance Air Mobility be an innovative solution to improve airport areas’ own connectivity to airports and downtown centers? After Covid, quality of life i.e. easy means of transportation and connectivity, sustainable and affordable housing, available education (college and university), green environment, accessible culture and heritage sites …, has become a requisite specially amongst the younger generations.
Airport areas are not generally speaking, the best positioned on matter of quality of life compared to city centers.
Is there a new model of development for urban development in airport areas?
How to make the destination desirable for residents and employees?
The panelists will present concrete examples of new urban developments in airport areas. representatives and leaders of Beijing- Daxing Airport City and The Val d’Oise-Paris Region Development agency will make summarized statements and closing speeches on the contents of the various symposiums and forums of this meeting. {{ item.childer.Extend1 }}
